Course Overview
Course contains 7 lessons
Lesson 1: Introduction
An introduction to my journey as a director and practitioner, and how I came to create my embodied process.
Lesson 2: Thinking In Pictures and Impressions.
Through the exercise ‘Thinking in Pictures and Impressions’ I’ll show you how just by focusing slowly on words and the images they create you can start to expand your imagination and find a deeper connection to text.
Lesson 3: The Generalised Core Beliefs.
Lesson 4: Physicalising Beliefs.
Lesson 5: Identifying the Character’s Beliefs.
Lesson 6: Physicalising Character Beliefs.
Next we’ll revisit the physicalising of beliefs and finding ‘The Germ’, this time for your chosen character and text.
Lesson 7: Consolidation.
In our final video we’ll consolidate everything we’ve learnt throughout the embodied process digital course.

Tom O’Brien is a coach and director with 10 years of experience.

Often I find myself having to get into character really quickly, and it’s something that I’ve always struggled with. Tom’s Embodied Process Digital course enabled me to really slow down and channel my thought process.
He encouraged me to put pen to paper and think about the character and the world of the character in terms of the beliefs ‘What does the character say about themselves’ and ‘What do others say about the character’. Not giving too much away.. the course encourages you to get up onto to your feet and physicalise the character through sets of recorded exercises. This was a longer process than I’m used to but equally so much more rewarding. You have to put in the work and with a casting for a new HBO show approaching this was so worth it and allowed me to be better prepared and authentic to the character. The course is worth the investment and I would highly recommend. I will definitely be using the videos and digital course for casting and character preparation going forward.
